Offere is a scarce real-photo postcard capturing Jim Thorpe at the start of the Pentathlon race during the 1912 Summer Olympics (held in Stockholm, Sweden). Graded VG 40 by SGC, this postcard, which was published in Sweden (all text on the reverse is in Swedish), was one of a series of approximately 240 real-photo postcards chronicling the 1912 Summer Olympics. Of those cards, just two featured Thorpe, with the offered card the only one picturing him in action during an event. Thorpe won the gold medal for the pentathlon, winning four of the five events, including both the 1,500-meter run and the 200-meter run. He also won a second gold medal as winner of the decathlon, thereby cementing his reputation as the world's greatest all-around athlete. The postcard, which displays exceptional clarity, has not been postally used, nor does it display any writing on the reverse.
