Pair of S76 silks featuring Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee, each encapsulated and designated Authentic by SGC. Issued during the early twentieth century as woven fabric tobacco premiums, S76 silks remain among the hobby's most distinctive non-card collectibles. Both examples have been authenticated and encapsulated by SGC. These are likely cut short, we do not know why they did not receive numerical grades. The cards retain very attractive images. We felt these two had to go together, these will look fantastic in the right display. S76 silks showcased a wide range of historical figures, and this pair brings together the commanding generals of the Union and Confederate armies whose leadership defined the American Civil War. Their fabric construction distinguishes them from traditional cardboard issues, while the pairing of Grant and Lee adds historical significance to this surviving tobacco premium set. Authenticated by SGC, these two silks represent an appealing matched pair from the pre-war era.
