Offered is a single-signed baseball featuring the autograph of Smoky Joe Wood, one of the dominant pitchers of the Deadball Era. The quality is exceptional, the ball and signature are particularly nice. A cult favorite Red Sox star, Wood is best remembered for his remarkable 1912 season with the Boston Red Sox, Wood posted a 34-5 record and helped lead Boston to a World Series championship, establishing himself among the game's premier stars of the period. Wood was also a coach for future President George H.W. Bush at Yale University. Wood died in 1985, he is very common on 3x5s and smaller flats, but scarce on a single signed baseball. JSA LOAA.
