Original Wright & Ditson order form for the 1894 Spalding's Official Base Ball Guide, together with the original Wright & Ditson mailing envelope. This is a rare item and the first example we have ever seen. The order form features the cover illustration for the 1894 Spalding's Official Base Ball Guide, the text above which reads, in bold print, Ready April 1st. At the base is the form to be filled out by the purchaser, which includes a space to indicate how many copies are being requested. If one is wondering why Wright & Ditson is promoting and selling the Spalding Guide, it is because Spalding Bros. purchased the Wright & Ditson sporting goods company in 1891. Despite the purchase, the Wright & Ditson brand name continued to be used well into the twentieth century. The form (6x10), which is printed on thin paper stock, displays three mailing folds, and a few light surface wrinkles. The accompanying mailing envelope (6.5x3.5), which is postmarked March 19 1894, displays several small stains on the reverse and is in Very Good condition.
